About the Studio

Chromajoy is Calvin Jones' art and design sandbox. Cal is an artist, illustrator and graphic designer with a reputation for excellence. He graduated from the design program at Vancouver's renowned Emily Carr College of Art and Design (1994). Cal also earned his Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts with distinction from the University of Regina (1986) where he studied under members of the Regina Five. He later designed unique and collectible lapel pins for many clients including the Calgary 1988 XV Olympic Winter Games. He has created artwork for many of The Walt Disney Company's computer software titles as well as award-winning design for the Province of British Columbia. Cal is a professional member of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada.

In his spare time, Cal enjoys geology, animation, bhangra and making lists. As well, he is one of the volunteer chefs at the local "9-10 Club" soup kitchen, cooking their special Beef 'n Barley recipe for its guests. Never turn your back on boiling barley. Cal has compiled an Animation Primer for folks curious about a career in animation. Cal and his wife, Sandy, have two children, Mike and Margo.

Cal spotted a photocopy of his Protect Yourself influenza preparedness campaign poster (created for British Columbia's Ministry of Health Services and visibly re-purposed by the Province of Saskatchewan's Department of Health) while visiting his alma mater, Campbell Collegiate, in Regina.
